House with panoramic view of Saksun.

About this space

Saksun is a unique gem. Beautiful and magnificent scenery. The location is fantastic and has one of the most beautiful views of the Faroe Islands. It’s the perfect place if you need a quiet retreat with your family & friends or if you want to work where you can get inspiration in the magnificent scenery.

The space

When you enter the house, you get in the hallway. From the hallway you can get to the toilet where there is a toilet and a shower. From the hallway you enter the kitchen, which has a good oven and hob. And from the kitchen you enter the living room with a wood burning stove and a magnificent view. From the living room you can come to the bedroom, which also serves as a cozy sofa during the day. With Bose Soundtouch 20 III you can enjoy your own music.

Outside we have a Montana Deluxe Spa Bath. This comes with a fee for 500dkk for 2 days for electricity & cleaning. If you are more days here, then you can add more days for 200dkk each day.
And there is some benches and tables to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Gym:
There is a barbell and a kettlebell.
If you’re into mindfulness, you can use a saw to cut wood to the wood burning stove and the hot tub.
You can also use a shovel to dig a hole in the ground and then dig the soil back into the ground. There is a lot of land on the property.
“Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor E. Frankl is lying on the bookshelf . So in between digging a hole and sawing wood you can read some thoughts about Man´s search for meaning.

Other things to note

We can also arrange Airport pick up for a fee. This option is only available some part of the year.
We also have a good tent which we rent to people if there is a bigger group of people.

Saksun, Streymoy, Faroe Islands

The area in which this house is located is called á Mýruni. This house is from 1869, and is built out of drifting wood from the sea. The last ovner renovated a couple of things during the last 20 years, and we as new owners, are currently working on finishing this renovation. All will be done with the utmost respect for the originality of the house, which we intend to preserve as much as possible.

· A museum called “Gomlu Dúvugarðar”, which is an old farmhouse, is located about 50 m from this house.

There are two farms in the village, and you may see some farming activities during your stay. Since Saksun recieves a lot of tourists during the year, it´s important to show respect for the privacy of the locals, so that they can get on with their everyday life and work. Taking pictures of or filming the locals and their activities always requires consent.

Saksun is beautiful and it seems like it would be a dream to live here for a few months. If you visit be sure to do the walk/hike along the bay and out to the ocean. The house itself is old and dark which I found to be cozy but just know that this is not a modern accommodation. Everything in the house worked well (wifi, appliances, shower). The host was very communicative and made everything easy.

My partner and I spend Christmas Eve/Day at the lodge in Saksun. This was an ideal spot for privacy, beautiful scenery and a real connection with nature. We had an unbelievably cosy Christmas here, falling asleep to the sound of waterfalls every night! Hans is very responsive and helpful with additional amenities (we were able to use his hot tub and sauna which were much appreciated). We would 100% recommend staying here and will definitely return. Thank you Hans!

We have traveled all over the world. This was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The house is rustic, cozy, and has everything you need. You’re surrounded by waterfalls, green mountains, and turf roof houses. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is updated and modern. The views are unbeatable. The temperature was very comfortable and could be adjusted by opening windows. Hans was very kind and responded quickly. He has a beautiful home and honestly, we felt really lucky to have had the opportunity to stay there.

A magical location. In the evenings after the visitors have left for the day and in the morning before they arrive, you feel like you have the entire beauty of Saksun as your private space. Thanks to Hans for sharing this house as it gives a traveller a unique chance to experience the beauty and solitude of a special place. Fireplace and hot tub added some unique touches. The cabin functioned well and added a rustic sense of history to the stay.

We love staying at Hans’ perfect getaway cabin. We arranged a transfer with him and it was seamless. A fantastic, kind and consistent host with an absolutely stunning and unique property. This is my favorite Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in (I once slept in a treehouse in the jungle, and this is better, trust me!). We loved waking up to sheep and the soothing sounds of the waterfall. My favorite days. We will come back!Erica + Anthony
